I had decided to check out the city of Jelgava today, as it is a short train ride away from Riga. After a quick breakfast I headed to the train station. I bought my ticket and headed to the platform. The journey was about 40 minutes and uneventful. From the station I walked into the city. I had wanted to take a walk along the Lielupe River as I’d read it was a nice area with some cafes and places, so I thought it would be a good place to have a coffee and people watch since it was the weekend. However, when I got closer to the area, it was all cordoned off.
